AUGUSTA, Ga.- CSM Willie J. Roach U.S. Army (Retired), native of Athens, Ga. and lifelong resident of Augusta, Ga., died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at his residence. He was drafted in 1953 to the U.S. Army serving thirty years. During his Military Career, he was awarded National Defense Ribbon, German Occupation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal with 10 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Legion of Mariot, Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, Jump Masters Badge. He leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Mamie C. Roach, children; Angela Roach, Patricia Roach, and Anthony Roach, in the home, grandchild; Tawanna Roach, mother, Weader Roach, sisters, Carrie Fox, Earnestine Walker, Shirley Walker and Barbara Elaine McLaurin, brothers; Kenneth Lee Roach, Larry E. Roach, and Robert Lee Roach. Funeral services will be 12noon, Tuesday, May 29, 2012, Bicentennial Chapel, Ft. Gordon, Ga., with Chaplin (CPT) Christopher E. Straw, presiding and Pastor (CSM Ret) Al Robinson, officiating. Interment will be 11:00am, Wednesday, May 30, 2012, Evergreen Memorial Park, 3655 Atlanta Highway, Athens, Ga., with full Military honors.
