Charles "Charlie" Allen Bell July 7, 1920 - December 15, 2013 Charlie was born on July 7, 1920 in Augusta, Kansas to George and Linnie Bell. He passed away at his home with family by his side on December 15, 2013. He was raised with his three brothers and two sisters in Slick, Oklahoma. At the age of twenty he joined the Army Air Core in result of WWII breaking out. He was stationed in Italy in 1943, where he was involved in seventeen combat missions over Germany serving as tail gunner on a B-24. In 1948, he joined the Kern Forrestry and Fire Department where he worked as a county firefighter for twenty-six great years. In 1953, he married Mary Lou Godley. Together they had two children, Charles Jr.,and Karen Lou. Charlie is survived by son Charles Jr., granddaughter Sabrina Marie Schoenheide (Yoder) and husband Eric, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Our Pops was an honest man with a heart of gold. He truly loved his family and lifelong friends, including best friend, WIllie Lechtreck. His passion was golf, especially with his fireman buddies. At the ripe age of ninety he shot a 91, already having a hole in "1" to his credit. Thank you to Sheri and the entire Optimal Hospice Staff for providing him with all he needed. And a special thank you to Sabrina and Eric for caring for him until the end. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2013 at Greenlawn Mortuary located at River Blvd. A reception will follow at the Firefighters Union Hall located on Landco.
