bakersfield.com/obits Donald Francis Kimble November 16, 1929 - July 20, 2013 Don was born November 16, 1929 in Bakersfield, CA to Francis C. Kimble and Violet Van Cleave-Kimble. He graduated from Kern County Union High School and attended Bakersfield Junior College prior to joining the Navy in 1950. He served aboard the U S S Prevail, a minesweeper, during the Korean War. He married Sharon Van Fleet of Bakersfield in 1954. They moved to Santa Monica, CA while he completed his college education at U.C.L.A. in 1956. He then attended The Children's Hospital of Los Angeles School of Physical Therapy. In 1958 he was awarded the Kate Crutcher Award as the Outstanding Student of his class. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, playing his saxophone for anyone who would listen, and story telling. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him by his wry and entertaining sense of humor. He and Sharon divorced in 1976 and he later moved to Florida and married Carollee Skelding in 1982. They retired in 1994, and late moved to Clarkdale, AZ. Don passed away in his sleep at home, with his wife Carollee, and dog Trilby at his side. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Charles and Jennifer Kimble, step-sons Roderick and Rick Baluha, his brothers, Kenneth Kimble of Santa Maria, CA, and Bruce Kimble of Corona del Mar, CA, and grandsons Scott and Michael Kroll, and Jakob Kimble, and three great-grandchildren. At his request, no funeral will be held. Memorial donations may be made to you local Humane Society.
