Frank Dominque DeCourten Obituary
Frank Dominque DeCourten February 6, 1921 - April 6, 2013 Frank Dominque DeCourten, 92, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2013 at his home in Bear Valley Springs, California, after a brief illness. Frank was born February 6, 1921 in Richmond, California to Swiss immigrant parents, the middle of five children. He graduated from Richmond Union High School in 1938. Frank, along with his two brothers, served in the Air Force in WWII as a Radio Operator/Mechanic Gunner. After the war ended, Frank attended Armstrong Business College on the GI bill, and was eventually hired by the California State Board of Equalization as an auditor. He retired in 1976 as an Audit Supervisor, and promptly embarked on a second career as a tax preparer. At 92 Frank was still preparing tax returns for the few clients he had left. Frank's love affair with Bear Valley Springs began when his brother Albert bought a lot there in the 1970's. For years Frank and wife Jan would rent homes in various locations during the summer months in BVS, then return to Rialto in the winter to prepare taxes. Finally Frank and Jan bought a home in BVS, settled permanently, and became active in the golfing community, with Frank always looking for a new "pigeon" with whom to make sports and golf bets. Frank lived life his way, on his terms, in many ways was invincible. He was always there for those he loved, with sage financial advice and a protective heart. Frank's life was a life well lived through the love, indomitable spirit, humor, and dignity that he freely shared with his family and friends in the journey of life. Frank leaves behind the love of his life - wife Jan, his 99 year old brother Fred DeCourten, his children Michele DeCourten, Frank De Courten, Marque [Poppy) DeCourten, Rod & Kitty Bower, Keli Corcoran and Scott Corcoran; six grandchildren, one great grandchild; his many relatives in Switzerland, his cat the Girly and countless friends. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bear Valley Springs Equestrian Center, Tehachapi CA.
