Jack Rex Brust, Jr. 1941 - 2013 Jack Rex Brust, Jr., was born February 3, 1941, to Jack Brust, Sr. and Lois Browning Brust McDonald. Jack attended schools in the San Diego area prior to enlisting in the U.S. Army, and proudly served for 23 years. A Vietnam War Veteran, Purple Heart recipient and U.S. Army Diver, he retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class. He often stated he would return to duty, if he was called upon, without hesitation. Jack worked for Soils Engineering for many years prior to retiring. As an avid sportsman and athlete, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, baseball and was a diehard New York Yankees fan. A natural at any sport, a stiff competitor and always had victory insight. During his youth, his love was motorcycles and he raced as a State Champion. He strongly supported his boys in all their racing and sports endeavors. Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; his sons, Tim (Kristen), Mark, Eric (Shellie), and Richard (Ambrosia); his daughter, Barbara Erlewine ( Aaron); his beloved sister, Teresa Brust; nieces, Garland Fybel (Dan), and Stacy Gibson (Todd); and nephew Griffin Testa; 16 grandchildren , 6 great-grandchildren , 2 great-nieces, and his three fur-people, Pnut, Manny and Bunny. A celebration of Jack's life will be held on July 8, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Lane. There will be a reception to follow at Southwest Lanes, 3610 Wible Rd.
