Lee Roy Rowland 1923 - 2013 Lee Roy Rowland was born Sept. 2, 1923 in Duncan, OK., to L.C. and Margaret Rowland. An Army man who served in WWII with the 1st Division, Lee Roy saw combat in Belgium, Germany and France, and earned a Bronze Star for his service. After moving to Bakersfield, Lee Roy fell in love with Charlotte Rowland, his surviving wife, whom he devoted himself to for 65 years. A 35-year employee of Shell Oil Company, Lee Roy never tired of work and enjoyed maintaining his property and being the fix-it man for friends and family. He was a pillar of strength and exemplar of goodness to everyone who knew him, and he will be dearly missed by his sons, Mitchell and Vernal Rowland, his grandchildren, Nick and Katie Rowland, siblings, nieces, nephews and all who loved him. Lee Roy never forgot his Oklahoma roots, and his family in Marlow, Salisaw, Oklahoma City and Tulsa will never forget him either. Services will take place at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 7th. www.bakersfield.com/obits
