G. William SCHAFER II Notice
SCHAFER, II , G. William G. William Schafer, II, 95, died February 15, 2013, in Ocala, FL. Son of Harry J. Schafer, Sr. and I. Ethel Repp Schafer, Bill was born in Violetville, MD, and was educated at the Franklin Day School in Baltimore. Bill served in the Army Air Corps in WWII. Bill owned and farmed Lone Oak Farm, a dairy farm in Woodbine, in addition to working in his family's business, Harry J. Schafer's Sons, in Lexington Market, Baltimore. He moved to Ocala in 1980, where he raised and showed Arabian horses. He served both Springfield Presbyterian Church in Sykesville and First Presbyterian Church of Ocala as Elder. Bill is survived by his wife, Janice; his children, G. William Schafer III, Suzanne Schafer-Coates, Dorothy S. Joseph, and Lynn Stalker; and seven grandchildren. In addition, his brothers Charles E.T. Schafer and Harry J. Schafer Jr., and his former wife, Dorothy C. Schafer, survive him.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 15, 6-8 pm at Haight Funeral Home, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville, MD, and on Saturday, March 16, 10-11 am, at Springfield Presbyterian Church, 7300 Spout Hill Rd., in Sykesville. A Memorial Service will follow in the church at 11 am. Interment will be private.
