CORNISH , Mae Golder Mae Golder Cornish , born March 19, daughter of the late Enoch and Virginia Golder departed this life on Tuesday January 8, 2013, after a very brief illness. Mae was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. After graduating from Douglass High School, she furthered her education by graduating with a teaching diploma from Coppin State University, a Bachelor of Science from Morgan State University, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from New York University (NYU) and obtained additional teaching certifications in advanced studies at Johns Hopkins University. She entered the Baltimore City School System as a classroom teacher. She progressed through the teaching ranks with numerous administrative positions, and upon retirement was the principal of Matthew A Henson Elementary School No. 29. Mae received numerous awards and citations over the years from the state and local government of Maryland, as well as many organizations, Some of these awards and citations include Outstanding Service award (1995) from the Governor of Maryland; citation for Quality of Service rendered (1995) from the Mayor of Baltimore; Outstanding Teacher award (1994) from the City Council of Baltimore; Kappa Delta Pi-Point of Excellence award (1995) and the National Association of Equal Opportunity. distinguished Alumni award |
