Stephen Hart Notice


On February 18, Stephen E. Hart passed away suddenly at his home in East Brunswick, NJ. Born April 9, 1964 to Laurence and Claire Hart in Baltimore, MD. Stephen earned a Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Agronomy from the University of Maryland and a Doctoral Degree in Weed Science from Michigan State University. Stephen joined the faculty at the University of Illinois and later joined the faculty at Rutgers University in 1999. At Rutgers he was an extension specialist in turf grass and ornamental weed science. Stephen mentored many graduate students, taught undergraduate courses and had extension responsibility in turf ornamentals in New Jersey as well as field crops in Delaware. He is survived by two brothers: David of New Freedom, PA and Richard of Fredericksburg, VA; two nieces: Laura Hart and Kaitlyn Hart; two nephews Alex Hart and Michael Hart; a brother, Lawrence Jr., passed away in 2012. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's of the Assumption Church 5502 York Road Baltimore, MD 21212 at 10 AM on Friday, March 28. Friends are invited to a reception following the service.
