Bernard Cummings Battle Creek Bernard Cummings, age 57, of Battle Creek, passed away Wednesday March 20, 2013 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. He was born July 25, 1955, in Battle Creek, the son of the late Charles Cummings and Freddie Mae (Jackson) Cummings. On February 17, 2004 he married Ocella (Robinson) Cummings, who survives. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1973. He served in the US Army and after his discharge was employed by the Veterans Administration Medical Center as a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant for 29 years, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed watching basketball, listening to jazz and funk music, and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife Ocella; daughters, Francisca O'Neal and Nicole A. Robinson both of Battle Creek, Margureite (ReRe) Harrold of Chicago; sons, Bernard Harrold, Richard Riley, Phillip J. Robinson all of Battle creek, and Sam Harrold of Kalamazoo; sisters, Cynthia Green, Mary Ann Riley, Evonne Powell, Callen (Eddie) Roberts, Geraldine Price, all of Battle Creek; brothers, Larry Cummings of Lansing and James (Petri) Standback of Battle Creek; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; step father Lewis Powell; brothers, David Jackson, Sherrow Jackson; a sister Gloria jean Cummings; and a grandson Dominic D. Robinson-Nicholson. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Thursday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Friday at the funeral home.
