Dorotha L Nichols, 91, of Homer, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Nichols was born on April 21, 1922 in Marshall Township to Jacob and Alice (Pomeroy) Maisner. She attended Marshall Schools. On October 12, 1962, she married Bruce Nichols. He preceded her in death on May 6, 1998.
Mrs. Nichols was the cafeteria supervisor for Homer Community Schools for many years retiring in 1984. She also worked at Karchers Market for many years. She was a life member of the Homer VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, working on crossword puzzles, golfing and bowling.
She is survived by her children, Judy Waffle of Burlington, Raymond (Vickie) Waisner of Brown Wood, Texas, Karen Sprague of Homer, Linda (Ken) Herman of Burlington, Kevin Nichols of Homer, 25 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings Harry Maisner of Okemos, Mary Linton of Homer, and Joyce Dryer of Roanoke, Virginia. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter Donna Hampton in 2011, a grandson Chad Geer in 1989, and 7 siblings.
Visitation will take place at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home on Monday September 16, 2013 from 5-8pm with family present to greet friends at that time. Funeral services celebrating her life will take place at 2pm on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at the Craig K. Kempf Funeral Home with Pastor Reid Waffle officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. Family requests memorial contributions be made to the Life Span Hospice or to the Trojan Athletic Club.
