Edwin L. Carpenter

Union City

Edwin L. Carpenter, 97, of Union City, passed away August 10, 2014 at the Laurels of Coldwater.  He was born October 15, 1916 in Union City to Edwin and Hazel (Huss) Carpenter. 

In 1942, he enlisted in the Army to serve his country during World War II.  Ed owned and operated the Carpenter gravel pit in Union City until he retired at age 90. 

Ed graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture at Michigan State University and remained a devoted fan, watching any sports pertaining to the college.  His greatest thrill was going to the Rose Bowl in 1988.

Ed is survived by several nieces and nephews and special MSU friend, Frank Hull. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Nathalie Carpenter Allwardt, Bernadine Carpenter Adolph and a brother, Robert Carpenter.

Interment at Riverside Cemetery in Union City has taken place.  There will be no services per  his request.  Memorial contributions may be made to Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice.  You may leave an online tribute by visiting www.putnamfuneralhome.com
