John F. Martinek


John F. Martinek, 69,  passed away early Sunday morning surrounded by his family.  He was born on February 15, 1945 the son of late Irvin and Grace Martinek and grew up in the Battle Creek, Michigan area.  He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and afterwards pursued a career in the paper industry.  In 1992 he founded and acted as President of Recycled Paperboard Products Corporation in Detroit, Michigan.  He continued to act in this capacity until his passing. 

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Randall and Jill Martinek; daughter, Joy Martinek; grandchildren Julia, Madelyne, and Colin Martinek; and brother and sister-in-law Wesley and Loretta Martinek. 

Services will be held at Wujek-Calcaterra funeral home located at 36900 Schoenherr Rd, Sterling Heights, MI, (586) 826-8550.  Viewing will be available Tuesday June 10th from 3-9PM and Funeral Services will be Wednesday June 11th, 2014 at 10:30 AM.  Burial and military ceremony to immediately follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2 PM.  Donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation.
