Charles Norman, 81

Charles Eugene Norman, born October 22, 1932 in Ellsinore, Missouri to the late Elmer Lee and Nellie Gertrude (Dunbar) Norman, departed this life Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Hospice of the Ozarks facility in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He attained the age of eighty-one years, seven months and twenty-five days.

Charles was a resident of Oakland, AR and previously of St. Louis, MO.

On January 12, 1953 Charles joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and loved to hunt, fish, and spend time on the lake with his family.

On June 20, 1975 Charles was united in marriage to Laura Evelyn Beard in Little Rock, AR. In addition to his wife of thirty-nine years, he is survived by three daughters, Sonja Stith (Mike) of Edwardsville IL, Martha Jane Morgan, of Mt. Vernon WA, and Karen Hagan (Steve) of Stanton, IL; one step-daughter, Linda Taylor (Robert) of San Diego, CA; one step-son, William Horton of Cedar Hill, MO; one sister, Bette Powell, of Collinsville, IL.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; along with several other friends and family who mourn his passing. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bobbie Lee Norman and one sister, Sandra Thompson.

A visitation will be held for the public Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 1:00 pm in the McSpadden Funeral Home in Ellsinore; with Funeral starting at 2:00 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Whites Mill Cemetery.
