Chuck "Poppy" Barnes, 83
Chuck "Poppy" Barnes, 83 of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away September 25, 2013.
The son of Edith Cooper Barnes and Eugene Edward Barnes, Chuck was born June 4, 1930 in Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. He attended primary school in Dennison, Ohio and completed secondary school at Massillon High School, Massillon, Ohio. He was a member of the United States Navy from 1947-1951 and a Korean War Veteran. He was honorably discharged and worked as a Merchant Marine until 1953.
In 1954 he married Suzanne Rae Holifield in Gary, Indiana. Chuck worked at Argon National Laboratory for sixteen years before moving to Mountain Home in 1971 where he ran Barnes Service-Heating & Air.
Chuck and Suzanne were married fifty-nine years and have three children, Lindsey Barnes Blevins (Wayne) of Mountain Home, Greg Barnes of Little Rock, Arkansas and Scott Barnes of Mountain Home. He has ten grandchildren Mackenzie Barnes, Blake Barnes, Conner Barnes, Sarah Barnes Garner, Marie Claire Barnes, Olivia Barnes, Rachel Barnes, Hannah Blevins, Sydney Blevins and Robinson Barnes. Chuck enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his ten grandchildren.
Chuck Barnes is survived by his brothers Jerry Barnes and Bill Barnes. He was preceded in death by his mother Edith, father Edward, brother Ed, sister Marge, and sister Bernice.
Funeral services will be private. Chuck Barnes supported both the Mountain Home Bomber Booster Club and the Mountain Home Band Boosters for the past forty years. In lieu of flowers, at the family's request, memorial donations should be made to the Mountain Home Bomber Booster Club or the Mountain Home Band Boosters.
