Peter B. Campo, 87
PETER B. CAMPO age 87, of Flippin, AR died Wednesday May 8, 2013. He was 1st generation born (only child) of Sicilian parents, Calogero & Angela (Infranco) of Montevago, Sicily in Springfield, Illinois on June 16th 1925. He served as an altar boy from grammar school at Saints Peter & Paul through Cathedral Boy's High School in Springfield, IL, graduating in 1943. He volunteered to serve his country in WWII in the United States Navy aboard the USS Cincinnati CL-6. He was a Life Member of the VFW Hoevel-Barnett Post #1341 of Bull Shoals, AR.
He retired in 1987, as MIS (Management Information Services) Director from Dresser Industries (Worthington Division), Mountainside, NJ, begining his career as Supervisor-Operator Unit Record Machines for the Auditor's Office, State of Illinois.
He greatly enjoyed his 25 year retirement on the White River fishing, golfing, meeting locals and new retirees and sharing pasta and wine with great friends and neighbors as well as family in Illinois.
He is survived by his spouse, (since 1977) Carol Genice Dean-Campo and a very special friend and neighbor, Gloria Strickert; his seven children, Carl Campo (Dena) of Rockton, IL, Phillip (Fifido) Campo of Springfield, IL, Pete Campo, of Florida, Nick Campo (Janis) of Pawnee, IL, Nino Campo of Springfield, IL, Angela Fitzmire (Gary) Clayton of Missouri and Susanne Louderman (Andy) Pawnee, IL; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A"Celebration of Life" will be held June 8th, 2013 in Pawnee, IL, with immediate family & relatives. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral & Cremation Services. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
