LEAGUE CITY - Surrounded by family and friends, Michael Christopher Paetz, Sr., age 64, of League City, Texas went to meet the Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Cornerstone Hospital after a brief illness. The family will receive friends at Crowder Funeral Home, 1645 East Main Street in League City on Wednesday, May 1, between 6 and 8 p.m. in League City, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 2, at 10:00 a.m. at Nassau Bay Baptist Church, 18131 Nassau Bay Dr., Nassau Bay, TX 77058. The burial service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Galveston, Texas at 1:30 p.m. Michael was born on August 24, 1948 in Galveston, Texas to Charles John Paetz, Jr. and Estelle Marie Paetz. Michael grew up in Galveston and was a graduate of Kirwin High School. He attended Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas, and received a B.A. in History from the College of Santa Fe (New Mexico) in 1970. Michael had a lengthy career in the insurance industry and travelled extensively. At the time of his passing, Michael was Vice-President MGU Operations of American National Insurance Company in Galveston. Michael's favorite pastimes were historical research, especially in genealogy, international travel, and model railroading, particularly with his beloved granddaughter, Sydney Schwartz. She will sorely miss her beloved "BoBo." Michael was a long time member of Nassau Bay Baptist Church in Nassau Bay, Texas. He had many fruitful years of ministry teaching Sunday School classes about his precious Savior, Jesus. Michael is survived by his wife, Diane, of 29 years, and children: M. Christopher Paetz, Jr. and wife, Nacole, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Anthony Wilson Paetz, of League City; SN Melanie Gale Schwartz, USN, presently serving in Great Lakes, Illinois; and Jennifer Casso and Ericka Brown. Michael is also survived by his mother, Estelle Marie Paetz of Keller, Texas, and siblings, Marianne Stallings of Fort Worth, Texas; Charles Joseph Paetz of Marietta, Pennsylvania; Theresa Taylor of Plano, Texas; R. Vincent Paetz of Alexandria, Virginia; and Margaret Mary Paetz of Keller, Texas.
