Albert Charles Odell, 86, of Beaumont, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2014, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 22, 1927, in Eagle City, Oklahoma to Edna Kluber Odell and Albert French Odell. After graduating from Watonga High School, Watonga, Oklahoma, he served in the Navy from 1945 to 1949. Albert earned his B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering at Oklahoma A&M and had a forty-one year career with DuPont in Orange, Texas, West Virginia, Louisiana, and Beaumont, Texas He married Ann McKinny in 1955, at First Baptist Church in Orange, Texas. A devout Christian, he enjoyed bringing the Sunday devotionals at the Odell family reunions. Albert was a member of Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, had a passion for teaching Sunday School, and was recently honored for his fifty-four years of service as a deacon. Survivors include his wife of fifty-eight years, Ann; son, Albert II, his wife, Lori and their children, Albert III and Cassie; daughter, Martha, and her husband, Dave Childs, and their children Daniel and Allison; and son, Scott, his wife Susan, and their children, Sarah, Christopher, and Rebekah. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Calvin; and infant sisters, Bonnie, Karen, and Rose Marie. A gathering of Mr. Odell's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at Westgate Memorial Baptist Church, 6220 Westgate Drive, Beaumont, with Dr. Raymond McHenry officiating, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A family graveside service will be held February 14, 2014, at Eagle City Cemetery, Eagle City, Oklahoma.
