1931- 2014 Albert Richard, Jr., 83, of Lake Charles, LA died on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 in his son and daughter-in-law's residence in Lumberton, TX. A native of and descendent of pioneer families of Creole, LA (Cameron Parish), he moved to Lake Charles in 1962. He was a graduate of Creole High School and attended Matthews Business College and McNeese State University. Mr. Richard was the plant office manager at Louisiana Memhaden Company in Cameron during the 1940's and 50's. He was a past member of the Cameron Lions Club, Cameron Parish Jaycees, Doxey Vincent VFW Post 10019, and a life member of Richard Brothers American Legion Post 176, named in memory of his two uncles, Dorcelie and Raymie Richard, who died in France serving with the US. Army during World War I. Mr. Richard retired as regional director of the Lake Charles District for the Louisiana Department of Revenue and Taxation in 1988. He was a life member of Champaign-Busnick VFW Post 2130 and the Southwest Louisiana Detachment, Marine Corps League of Lake Charles. After serving two years with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War of which one year was in the combat zone in Korea, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sargeant. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church since moving to Lake Charles in 1962. Mr. Richard financially assisted in special drives in building the new church, Family Life Center, Adoration Chapel, elementary, and St. Louis High School. He was currently a member of Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Lumberton, TX. He was the son of the late Albert Richard, Sr. and Edna Conner of Creole, who brought six other children into his world. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Skinner Richard; his parents; and five siblings, Lenora, Ezora, Edna, Evoila, and Melvin. Those left to cherish his memory are a son, David Albert Richard and wife Tressa J?nette Nix Richard of Lumberton; a sister, Ina Boudreaux of Lake Charles; four grandchildren, Steven Barron and wife Susan, Angela Barron, and Kelsey and Michael Richard; six great grandchildren; two great grandchildren on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 1, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Andy Moore of Infant Jesus Catholic Church of Lumberton, TX, will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary being held at 7:00 PM.
