Gordon M. Cross, 90, of Bevil Oaks, died Sunday, October 13, 2013, at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. He was born on February 18, 1923, to Carrie Edna Hobbs Cross and General Monroe Cross, in Batson. Gordon was a United States Army veteran. He retired as an assistant operator for Union Oil Company after thirty-three years of employment. Gordon was a member of Masonic Lodge 974, Batson. He was a good husband, father, and citizen. Along with those qualities instilled in him, he was a hard worker, good neighbor, and wonderful man. Survivors include his wife of thirty-seven years, Autholine Breezy Cross; children, Brenda Bruno and her husband, Craig, of Lumberton; Jerry Cross of Beaumont; John Clawson and his wife, Bobby, of Rockford, Illinois; Anita L. Clawson of Homer, Louisiana; and Lisa Morgan of Lovelady; thirteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike Cross; daughter, Gloria Barrow; two brothers; and four sisters. A gathering of Mr. Cross' family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
