Funeral services for James Robert Davis, Sr., 87, of Jasper, will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 10:00 am. Services will be held at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 15th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Stringer-Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Mr. Davis passed away on April 13, 2014, at Rayburn Healthcare and Rehabilitation. A 1944 graduate of Jasper High School, Mr. Davis then went on to serve in the US Army. He was ranked a Sergeant and served during WWII. After 42 years of employment with Jasper-Newton Electric Co-Op, he retired. Mr.Davis was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr.Davis enjoyed farming, working outdoors and was always happy to enjoy a Snickers! Mr. Davis enjoyed playing baseball with his family and friends. Mr. Davis was loving husband and father. He was a fine Christian man who valued faith and family. Mr.Davis was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was known as a generous and optimistic man. His children say he was the greatest Dad that ever lived and leaves a legacy of beautiful memories. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Jean Davis; two sons, Jim Davis and his wife, Sharon, Tommy Davis; one daughter, Reba Davis Smith and husband, David; ten grandchildren, Christopher Davis and wife, Morgan; Jeff Davis-Towle and husband, Jeremy Davis-Towle; Trey Davis and wife, Stacy; Kelli Edelen; Kyle Davis and wife, Tara; Adam Davis and wife, Laci; Jason Seale and wife, Kate; Amy Singh and husband, Simrah; Lisa Stuart and husband, Justin; and Alexandra Smith; two step grandchildren, Katie Kroch and husband, Matt and Tucker Smith; ten great grandchildren, Sutton Davis, Tyler Davis, Shaye Davis, Sophie Davis, Madison Stephens, Emily Edelen, Jackson Edelen, Madalie Davis, Haley Davis and Ryleigh Jo Stuart; great great grandchildren Zane Jenkins and Zoey Allen. Mr.Davis is also survived by host of family and friends. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Artie and Lola Davis; sister, LaRetha Adams; and brother, Elton Eugene Davis. A special thanks to his caregivers, Sam Fontenot, Kalandra Myers, Sheila Armitage, Amanda Richmond, Lillie Blueitt and Amie Clowers.
