Jimmie D. Ames, 84, of Sour Lake, died Friday, March 7, 2014, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth, Beaumont. He was born on August 6, 1929, in Washington, Arkansas, to Cathleen Gilbert Ames and Heratio Bub Ames, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Jimmie was a United States Army veteran having served in the Korean War. He was a retired accounting clerk with Texaco. Jimmie was a Master Mason. He loved to travel in his motor home and was a member of the Motor Home Club. Jimmie had numerous amounts of friends and was a very loving and caring father. He enjoyed telling jokes. Jimmie is survived by his son, Mark Ames and his wife, Melissa, of Sour Lake; grandchildren, Malcolm Ames and his wife, Wendi; Glenn Ames and his wife, Cayce; Greg Ames; and Garrett Ames; and great-grandchildren, Kennedy Ames and Brantley Ames. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of fifty-nine years, ten months, and three days, Nancy. A gathering of Mr. Ames' family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 10, 2014, at Broussard's.
