Paul C. Eberhardt, 91, passed away, in his home surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, December 22, 2013. He was born in Massillon, Ohio, on January 15, 1922, to Harold and Doris Eberhardt. Paul was the eldest of five children, brothers Howard and Wayne, deceased, and sisters Janice Miller of Wooster, Ohio and Sally Miller of Akron, Ohio. Paul graduated from Washington High School Massillon, Ohio, Class of 1940. He entered Ohio State University, but like many young men, he married his high school sweetheart, Ruth Graybill, prior to leaving for military service. He was a World War II veteran, serving as a First Lieutenant in the Army, US Signal Corps. Paul served in Southeast Asia in India, Burma, and China. After returning from the war, Paul resumed his studies at Ohio State University and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. Paul moved his family around the country as he climbed the corporate ladder, ending his career into retirement as Plant Manager from N.L. Shaffer, in Beaumont, Texas. Paul was a Commodore of the Beaumont Yacht Club. He enjoyed taking family and friends up and down the river on his houseboat, stopping for a swim along the way. He will be missed by his loving family and friends. Paul was preceded in death by two of his four children, Tom Eberhardt, (Aiken, MN) his wife, Elinor, and Daniel Eberhardt and Bobbi (Chicago, Ill). Survived by Tom and Elinor's children, Paul Eberhardt and wife Kim, and their children Ruthie and Jane (Riverside, Ill.) Sally Lansing and husband Nick, and their children, Elia and Anna (Duluth, MN), Daniels children, Dean (Chicago, Ill) and wife, Allison, and their children Daniel and Cole, and son Mark Eberhardt (Chicago, Ill.) David Eberhardt and wife Christine (Mobile, AL), and their son Brian, and his children Caitlin, Brennan, and Leah. Judy Swartz (Sour Lake, TX) and her children Justin, and his children Korban, Geoffrey, and Ashlynn; daughter, Wendy (Portland, OR) and step-daughter, Dawn Simmons and her children Mitchell, Kayla, and Dristi. Paul is survived by his loving wife and sweetheart, Ruth, of 69 years. A gathering of Mr. Eberhardt's family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 30, 2013, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
