Robert Eugene Gene Oliver, 87, of Nederland, died Sunday, April 13, 2014. He was born on August 4, 1926, to Margaret East Oliver and Levy Oliver, in Waco. Mr. Oliver served in the United States Army during World War II and retired from BF Goodrich as a supervisor. He was an active member at First United Methodist Church, Nederland and he dedicated many years to the Nederland Babe Ruth League. Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Janie Fuller Oliver; sons, Kenneth Oliver and his wife, Danice, of Houston and David Oliver of Beaumont; daughter, Karen Kessinger and her husband, Lee, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Michael Oliver; Lauren Oliver; Kevin Kessinger and his wife, Ashli; Krista Kessinger; and Kelsey Kessinger; great-grandchildren, Draven Oliver, Abigail Oliver and Aiden Kessinger. He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and one sister. A gathering of Mr. Oliver's family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at Broussard's, 505 N. 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Nederland, with interment to follow at Antioch Cemetery in Buna at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church Pew Fund, 104 North 13th Street, Nederland, Texas, 77627.
