Robert Murray Brown, 87, of Beaumont, Texas, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. He was affectionately known by family and friends as R.M., Bob, Papa, or Honey Bob. A native of the area, he was born on April 12, 1926, to Mary Alice Moore and Robert Murray Brown, Sr. Bob graduated from South Park High School and then enlisted in the United States Navy. Upon his return from World War II, he enrolled in Texas A&M University where he earned his bachelors degree in 1950. Bob was married to Barbara Golden Brown for forty-four years until her death in January of 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tom Brown; and sister, Martha Nichols. Bob retired from IBM after forty-five years. After moving from Beaumont in 1977, he resided in Kingwood and Montgomery, before returning to Beaumont. Bob loved to sing karaoke and especially enjoyed talking to people. He never met a stranger. Bob is survived by his daughters, Kim Giglio and her husband, Charles; and Kerry Jongeward and her husband, Bryan; grandchildren, Kristen Whisenant and her husband, Preston; Gina LaBarba and her husband, Carl; Julian Giglio; and John Boran, Jr.; and great-grandchildren, Charles Whisenant, Marietta Whisenant, Lucia LaBarba and Carl Michael LaBarba III. A private family graveside service will be held at Hooks Cemetery with Mr. David Sheffield officiating.
