Landon Edward Witt, 80 of Bedford, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was born on Monday, Sept. 19, 1932 in Bedford County, a son of the late Garland Edward Witt and Laura Wells Laughlin Witt. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Garland A. Witt, Odell D. Witt, Wendall R Witt and Sherman L. Witt and sisters, Nancy L. Lacy and Nina P. Arthur. He was a retired employee of General Electric, was a U. S. Air Force Veteran having served in Korea, a member of the V. F. W. Post # 2157 and the Nicopolis United Methodist Church. Surviving is his wife, Harlene Brinegar Witt; a step-daughter, Chris Strautnieks and husband, Erik of Chesapeake; step-son, Dean Riley of Cumberland, MD; three step-grandchildren, Erika Strautnieks of Hampton, Stefan Strautnieks and wife, Courtney and Blake Riley of Cumberland, MD; a brother, Herman G. Witt of Bedford; three sisters, Patricia W. Cunningham and husband, Ray, Laura W. Bradley all of Lynchburg, Charlotte W. Sexton and husband, Randy of Goode. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 11 am at Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with Pastor Phillip Kelley officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in the Nicopolis United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford.
