Aldo Garino

Aldo "Bob" Garino, 83, of Granite City, Ill., born May 7, 1930, in Coello, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Christian Northeast Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Bob was a United States Air Force veteran who proudly served his country. On Sept. 6, 1957, Bob married Lucille Taylor, the love of his life in Waterloo, Ill., and she preceded him in death on March 4, 2006. He had worked at General Motors in St. Louis, Mo., as an inspector with quality control, retiring after 33 years. Bob enjoyed gardening, watching all sports and he was definitely an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, whom he adored. Bob will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; his parents, Lawrence and Marianna, nee Leone, Garino; son, John Picantine; and his sister, Emma Margherio.

Surviving are his loving children, Marianne (David) Milton of Granite City, Ill., and Dee (Mike) Mercer of Herrin, Ill.; grandchildren, Missy Milton, Michael Milton, David (Pam) Mercer and Tracy (Todd) Cornelius; great-grandchildren, Tyler Cornelius, Taylor Cornelius, Kelsie Howard and Tiffany (Jake) McWhorter; and extended family and friends.

Funeral: Private family graveside services with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.
