August Augustine

August R. "Augie" Augustine, 88, of Mascoutah, Ill., born Apr. 9, 1925, in Mascoutah, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Kindred Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Augie was a retired architectural draftsman. He was a member of Holy Childhood Catholic Church in Mascoutah, the Mascoutah Moose Lodge 815, Mascoutah Sportsman's Club, and the Mascoutah VFW Post 7682.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August R., Sr., and Elsie, nee Dolence, Augustine; his wife, Catherine M., nee Hund, Augustine whom he married on Feb. 12, 1954, in Hernando, Miss., and who died Jan. 12, 2001; and a daughter, Judy Saunders.

Surviving are a daughter, Jane (Craig) Wuellner of Pekin, Ill.; a son, Mark (Beverly) Augustine of Mascoutah, Ill.; six grandchildren, Jessica (Joshua) Fritz of Mascoutah, Ill., Lisa Augustine of O'Fallon, Ill., Shannon (Chris) Hart of Pekin, Ill., Sara (David) Bozart of Pekin, Ill., Angie (Steven) Lumley of Chesterfield, Mo., and Scot (Tracey) Saunders of O'Fallon, Mo.; nine great-grandchildren, Mary, Dan, Adelia, Catie, Rylie, Jocelyn, Jake, Jordyn, and Brayden; a brother, Dick (Ellen Kaye) Augustine of St. Louis, Mo.; three sisters, Betty Rakers of South Weymouth, Mass., Helen (Carl) Aeillo of St. Louis, Mo., and Phyllis Hammond of St. Louis, Mo.; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at the Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, Ill. A Moose Ritual will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Funeral: A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at Holy Childhood Catholic Church, Mascoutah, Ill., with Father Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will be in Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery in Mascoutah, Ill.
