Charles Ballot Jr.

Retired USAF Major Charles J. Ballot Jr., 83, of Mascoutah, Ill., born April 11, 1930, in New Orleans, La., died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014. .

Charles was a retired U. S. Air Force navigator and also retired vice president in charge of auditing at Magna Group. He was a U. S. Navy and Air Force Korean Conflict and Japanese Occupation Forces veteran. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, Ill., Douglas Lodge 361 AF & AM, Mascoutah, Ainad Temple; V.F.W. Post 7682, Mascoutah, American Legion Post 292, Mascoutah, former member of the Belleville Philharmonic board of directors and former member and treasurer of the St. Clair County Genealogical Society.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles J. and Cecile C., nee Cousin, Ballot Sr., a son-in-law, Steven P. Lee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Surviving are his wife, Pearl M., nee Graul, Ballot whom he married in Austin, Texas on Aug. 13, 1955; four children, David A. (Elizabeth H.) Ballot Sr., of Dares Beach, Md., Steven A. (Donita Myers) Ballot of St. Louis, Mo., Bryan A. (Charles Dahl) Ballot of Clear Water, Fla., and Deborah L. Lee of Mascoutah, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Denise A. (John) Christensen, David A. (Jessica) Ballot Jr., Chelsey Ballot, Ashley Ballot, Emily J. Horowitz, Allen C. Horowitz, James K. Lee II, Joseph R. Ballot and Everett B. Ballot; three great-grandchildren, Charles A. Ballot, Oliver R. Ballot and Jacob L. Christensen; a sister, Lorraine B. Dabney of Land-O-Lakes, Fla.; also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Moll Funeral Home in Mascoutah, Ill. A Masonic service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Friends may also call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. John United Church of Christ, Mascoutah, Ill.

Funeral: A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at St. John United Church of Christ in Mascoutah, Ill., with the Rev. Hugh Fitz officiating. Burial will be in Mascoutah City Cemetery, Mascoutah, Ill.
