Claude Cornett

Claude E. Cornett, 87, of Swansea, Ill., born Monday, July 18, 1927, in Gilley, Ky., died Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at The Fountains of Shiloh in Shiloh, Ill.

Claude worked as a welder for General Motors. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula K. "Karleen" Cornett; parents, Almon and Betty, nee Boggs, Cornett; and a sister, Thelma Hobbs.

Surviving are his children, Janet Hearan of Swansea, Ill., Garry (Ruth) Cornett of New Athens, Ill., and Glenn (Elizabeth) Cornett of Marissa, Ill.; brothers, Coy (Nancy) Cornett of Tilton, Ill., and Luther (Crystline) Cornett of Girdler, Ky.; sister, Bonnie Meeks of Russellville, Ky.; grandchildren, Scott Hearan of Illinois, Hollie (William) Cuker of Illinois, Tracey (Richard) Kane of Missouri, Robbie Hearan of Illinois, Cathy (Tim) McLaren of Missouri, Cristy (Doug) Rosentreter of Illinois, Cynthia (Ross) Kennedy of Illinois, Sarah (Daryl) Scott of Illinois, Becky (Steve) Stark of Illinois, and Philip (Archie Garden) Cornett of the United Kingdom; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Pastor Jack Kurrelmeyer officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
