Retired U.S. Air Force Maj. David Lowell Attaway, 61, of Shiloh, Ill., born July 7, 1953, in Birmingham, Ala., passed away Aug. 29, 2014, at his home.
Maj. Attaway retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he had served as services squadron commander. He had attended Middle Tennessee State University and was currently employed at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jim (Nell) Attaway; and mother, Jean (Al) Warner.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 41 years Jan, nee Thomas, Attaway of Shiloh; children, Ashlee Attaway of Belleville and Nathan (Julianne) Attaway of O'Fallon; sisters, Deb Warner and Suzann Cordell, both of Columbia, Tenn.; grandchildren, Mariah Greer and Micah Attaway; his precious great-grandson, Camden; his mother-in-law, Barbara Thomas; beloved nieces and nephews; his brother-at-heart and fellow little league coach, John Beck of Shiloh; and his loyal dog Jake.

Visitation: A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 1, 2014, at Wolfersberger Funeral Home, O'Fallon, Ill.
Funeral: Memorial service will begin at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at the funeral home.
