David Compton Jr.
David L. Compton Jr., 84, of Belleville, Ill., born Dec. 28, 1928, in East St. Louis, Ill., died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Compton was a technician for AT&T, retiring after 37 years of service. He was a member of the Communication Workers of America Union. A member of St. Peter's Cathedral, Belleville, Ill. David was an avid outdoorsman. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Signal Corp.
He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas L. Compton; and his parents, David L. Sr., and Evelyn, nee Vandeveer, Compton.
Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Frances L., nee Goodwin, Compton, whom he married on Aug. 4, 1951; and a son, Timothy P. (Lorri A. Mott) Compton of Smithton, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, from the funeral home for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Peter's Cathedral, Belleville, Ill., with Father Nicholas Junker officiating. Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
