Edward R. Hejmej, 90 of Maryville, Ill., born July 8, 1924, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away at 8:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, Ill.
Edward retired from Cerro Cooper & Brass after many years of service. He was a World War II Army veteran, and was in the 16th Armored Division Company B 23rd Calvary. He was a member of the Polish American War Veterans, Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, Ill., and was an avid golfer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Casimir and Agatha, nee Kudlata, Hejmej; and siblings, John, Joe, Frank, Ann, Emily and twin infant sisters.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita, nee Konieczny, Hejmej, whom he married on Oct. 1, 1955; a sister, Rose Hejmej of Belleville, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, Ill. Father Joseph Havrilka will have a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Funeral: Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at the funeral home with Father Stanley Konieczny officiating. Burial will be in St. Adalbert Cemetery in Fairview Heights, Ill., with military honors. A memorial mass will be held at a later date at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Smithton, Ill.
