Eugene P. Dodson, 90, of Everett, Wash., formerly of Granite City, Ill., born on Feb. 12, 1923, in Sikeston, Mo., died at 6:15 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at Providence Regional Medical Center, Everett, Wash.
Mr. Dodson taught country western dancing. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and had served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Eugene received the American Defense with star ribbon, two Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Ribbon with bar and the European-African Middle East Area Ribbon with Bronze Star. He had owned and operated Dodson's Trailer Repair in St. Louis, Mo., and Trails End Campground in Granite City for many years. Eugene had lived in Granite City from 1970 until moving to Everett, Wash., about five years ago.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Elizabeth, nee Weaver, Dodson, whom he married on Aug. 14, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo.; parents, Vernon Dodson and Ersia, nee Hinkle, Dodson Jones; a brother, J.W. Dodson; a sister, Vivian Schaebein; and a grandson, Ryan Showell.
Surviving are his children, Sandra (Michael) Scaggs of Granite City, Ill., Linda (Ronald) Stowell of Lanexa, Va., Eugene "Buck" (Peg) Dodson of Everett, Wash., and David (Gale) Dodson of Southhaven, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at Thomas Saksa Funeral Home in Granite City, Ill.
Funeral: Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Lawson officiating. Interment in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
