Ferd C. Goewert, 87, of Belleville, Ill., born Friday, April 29, 1927, in St. Louis, Mo., died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Goewert served in the United States Army during World War II European Operation 1st Armor Division. Ferd retired from the Scottish Rite Bodies as the executive secretary. Mr. Goewert was a member of St. Clair Lodge 24 AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, receiving his 33rd Degree, in Boston in 1993, Ainad Shrine (Cast), Elk's Lodge 664, BPOE, Fairview Heights, Ill., past president of St. Clair County West Rotary Club (Paul Harris Fellow), past president of Illinois Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, past president of the Belleville Area Chamber of Commerce, CEO Chamber of Commerce in Granite City, Madison, and Venice. Former assistant manager of East St. Louis Chamber of Commerce, and buyer for St. Louis Jewelry Company.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet R., nee Chuse, Goewert; parents, Ferd J. and Elsie, nee Morstain Goewert; sister, Maxine Kristof; brother, Glenn Goewert; and nephew, Richard Kristof.
Surviving are his sister-in-law, Carol (DJ) Taake of Grapevine, Texas; nephews, Donald (Karen) Taake of Grapevine, Texas, John Kristof of St. Louis, Mo., Steve Kristof, St. Louis, Mo., and Scott (Debra) Kristof of St. Louis, Mo.; a niece, Della Kristof of St. Louis, Mo.; and dear friends, Vern and Bonnie Dennis.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Kurrus Funeral Home, with Rev. Rob Dyer officiating. Per Ferd's request, his body was donated to Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Mo.
