Gerald Otten

Gerald R. "Jerry" Otten, 65, of Columbia, Ill., born Nov. 24, 1948, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Columbia, Ill.

Jerry was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran, a Bronze Star Medal recipient, member of Waterloo VFW 6504, and retired from Illinois Central Railroad.

He enjoyed camping and fishing with his good friends from Main St. in Waterloo.

Jerry's life was a train ride blessed with family and friends that supported him through his battle with cancer.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy H. Otten; a nephew, Terry Otten; and a great-niece, Lindsey Otten.

Surviving are his mother, Billea, nee Hack, Otten; brothers and sister, Roy (Diane) Otten, Marvel (Teresa Rusteberg) Otten, David (Ellen) Otten and Rosalie (Allen) Kern; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
