United States Air Force Major, Retired Gerald Walter Carr, 84, of Belleville, Ill., born Aug. 8, 1929, in Horton, Kan., died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Belleville, Ill.
Mr. Carr graduated from Emporia High School, Emporia, Kan., in 1947, and earned a bachelor's degree from Emporia State University in 1951. Gerald was a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John G. and Angie, nee Bevan, Carr.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Marilyn, nee Patterson, Carr, whom he married on July 19, 1953, in Tokyo, Japan; three children, Deborah (Kevin) McCauley, Bruce (Therese) Carr, and Lori (George) Kindler; four grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle McCauley, George Kindler III, and Katherine Kindler; two great-grandchildren, David and Addie; and his twin brother, Morris Carr.

Funeral: Private Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at George Renner and Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill. Private burial, with full military honors, will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
