Harry Rutledge Sr.

Harry I. Rutledge Sr., 80, of Dupo, Ill., born May 3, 1933, in East St. Louis, Ill., passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Memorial Convalescent Center in Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Rutledge was a retired U.S. Navy veteran serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He also was a retired accountant. He earned a bachelor's degree from Fort Lauderdale College. He was a member of Winstanley Baptist Church of Fairview Heights, Ill., and the American Legion Post 485 of Dupo, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia J. Rutledge, nee Hanger; second wife, Constance "Connie" Rutledge, nee LaDuca; his parents, Harry W. and Merle, nee House, Rutledge; a son, Robert John Rutledge; a daughter, Brenda Joan Kreamalmeyer; a stepson, James Derossett; and a great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Lynn King.

Surviving are his wife, Wanita M. Rutledge, nee Sitter; his children, Pam Whittaker of Dupo, Ill., Harry (Connie) Rutledge, Jr. of Columbia, Ill., Linda Eugea of Freeburg, Ill., and Deborah (James) Shaki-Rutledge of Ashville, N.C., stepchildren, Leslie (Aaron) Graham of Granite City, Ill., Robert Derossett of Dupo, Ill., Marion Derossett of Dupo, Ill., and Jacqueline Sturdevant of Hazelwood, Mo.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friend.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2014, at the funeral home with Dr. Steve Phillips and Rev. James Haupt officiating. Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery will be held at a later date.
