Howard W. Brown, 89, of Edwardsville, Ill., born Oct. 2, 1923, passed away at 3:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Ill.
Mr. Brown was area manager of Employment Security for the State of Illinois for 15 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as a lieutenant colonel serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Howard was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jean, nee Cook, Brown, who passed away July 17, 2001; parents, John Oral and Fern, nee Donnelley, Brown; brother, Wayne Brown; and sister, Josephine Buckstuck.
Surviving are his children, Sharon (Ken) Martin of Hecker and David W. Brown of Belleville; grandchildren, David M. Brown and Jon M. Brown; and great-grandson, Ethan Davis Brown.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Research.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home, Edwardsville, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at Saksa Mateer Funeral Home, with Pastor Kent Schuette officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg, Ill.
