Howard Buckner

Howard H. Buckner, 90, born on Nov. 5, 1923, in Weaverville, N.C., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at his residence in Troy, Ill.

Mr. Buckner was a good Christian and a proud veteran of the US Navy serving during World War II. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Floyd and Anna Belle, nee Hargrove, Buckner; his wife, Helen L., nee Holt, Buckner; a brother, Ralph Buckner; and a sister, Kathleen Walker.

Surviving are his sons; Larry (Jackie) Buckner of Tacoma, Wash., and Alan (Sharron) Buckner of Troy, Ill.; a brother, Ray Buckner; sisters, Norma Morris and Ruth Sevier; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at the Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Parkway West, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at the funeral home. Interment will be at Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend, Ind.
