James L. "I'me" Martin, 74, of Bowling Green, Ky., died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at 4:10 p.m. at his residence.
James was the son of the late Loraine "Gunny" and Marguerite Porter Martin. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Paul Henry Martin; sister, Frannie Sue Koon; and special brother-in-law, Mac McCloskey.
Jim moved to Bowling Green from Lenzburg, Ill., with General Motors. He worked there until he retired with 30 years service. He loved to fish with his children and grandchildren and shared this love with them all. He blessed everyone with his time, kind words, and gentle smile. If you ever met him he was never forgotten.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Frances Martin; son, Mike Martin of Bowling Green; daughter, Denise (David) Krantz of Bowling Green, Ky.; grandchildren, Dena Bibb (Ricky Jr.) of Smiths Grove, Ky., Dustin (Heather) Krantz of Scottsville, Ky., and Kayce Sue Martin of Bowling Green, Ky.; great-grandchildren, James "BentLee" Good, Kamarion Bibb, DeeVyne "Little Frances" Bibb, all of Smiths Grove, Ky., and Nolin Krantz of Scottsville, Ky.; and sisters, Martha Laumbattus (James) and Millie Patton, both of New Athens, Ill., and Helen McCloskey of Darmstadt, Ill.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel, 820 Lovers Lane, Bowling Green, Ky.
Funeral: Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bowling Green Gardens, Bowling Green Ky.
