Kenneth Jones

Kenneth L. Jones, 90, of Granite City, Ill., born April 15, 1924, in Eminence, Mo., passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in Granite City, Ill.

Kenneth was a carpenter for union local 633 for over 50 years and a current member of union local 664. The United States Navy veteran proudly served his country during World War II and was a member of the Granite City Eagles Lodge, a member of the Odd Fellows and a member of the Madison Masonic Lodge. In his free time he enjoyed gospel music, the guitar and being outside fishing and hunting. He will be remembered for the special love he shared with his family and the many good times shared together.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, nee Thompson, Jones, whom he married on May 5, 1945; his parents, H.H. "Noke" and Marie, nee Wilson, Jones; and his sister, Elaine Stringer.

He is survived by and will be missed by his sons, Rev. Kenneth (Randee) Jones of Redding, Calif., Danny (Deborah) Jones of Granite City and Todd Jones of Granite City; daughter, Candice Sue (Rev. Michael) Tolbert of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren, Marcus, Nathan, Simeon, Rachel, Ashley, Ryan, Travis and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Addison, Tatum, Piper, Brody, Jude, Micah, Linnea and Silas; sister, Norma Colyott; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Memorials in Kenneth's memory may be directed to the National Down's Syndrome Society, 666 Broadway, 8th Floor, New York, NY 10012.

Visitation: In celebration of his life friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 11, 2014, with an Eagles service at 7 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Allen Stringer officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon, Ill.
