Larry Patton

Larry D. Patton, 76, of McMinnville, Tenn., formerly of Granite City, Ill., born March 21, 1938, in Granite City, Ill., passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at St. Thomas Hospital West in Nashville, Tenn.

Larry was a longtime electrical engineer for Magnatec in Nashville. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in McMinnville and a United States Air Force veteran. Larry was a very involved father who supported his kids and grandkids sports traveling to games and coaching little league and softball as well as being a big supporter of Girl Scouts. Larry enjoyed life with his friends and family fishing, playing golf and bowling where he achieved two perfect games. He enjoyed listening to country music and dancing with his wife. He will be remembered for his kind and loving heart and the many special times he shared with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Byron and Anna Rosalee, nee Drake, Patton; sister, Hellen McMahon; and brothers, John "Jack" Patton, William "Red" Patton.

He is survived by and will be missed by his wife, Mickey Lorraine, nee Hamilton, Patton, whom he married on Oct. 27, 1956; sons, Larry (Bobbie) Patton of Elsa, Ill., Tracy (Elaine) Patton of Granite City, Ill.; daughter, Lorraine (Steven) Prokopich of Elsa, Ill.; grandchildren, Michele (Charles) Thomas, Stephenie (Timothy) Hill, Shannon (James) Huff, Brooke Patton and Samantha Patton; great-grandchildren, Kristen Turpin, Taylor, Hill, Noah Thomas, Emily Thomas, Cayley Thomas, Emma Huff, Chloe Hill and James Huff; and brothers, Luther B. Patton, Jerry T. Patton.

Memorials are suggested to Cornerstone Baptist Church Mission Fund, 49 Golf Club Road, McMinnville, Tenn. 37110.

Visitation: In celebration of his life friends may call from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, at the funeral home with Pastor Clint Wisdom officiating. Burial will follow with military rites at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville, Ill.
