Leland Cannady

Leland Rudolph "Mike" Cannady, 85, of Belleville, Ill., born June 13, 1929, in Belleville, Ill., died Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Cannady was a retired electrician and a member of IBEW Local 309. He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. Mike was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Korean Conflict.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vivian L. and Caroline, nee Schaab, Cannady; and a great-granddaughter, Kya Kapur.

Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Alice M., nee Sehr, Cannady, whom he married March 10, 1951, at St. Peter's Cathedral, Belleville, Ill.; 11 children, Patricia (Thomas) Stevens of Stuart, Fla., Michael (Susan) Cannady of Belleville, Ill., Donna (Doug) Bradley of Santa Barbara, Calif., Marcia (Dave) Brauer of Murphysboro, Ill., Steven (Sheree) Cannady of Belleville, Ill., Thomas (Mary Sue) Cannady of Belleville, Ill., Randy (Laura) Cannady of Decatur, Ill., Lee Cannady of Belleville, Ill., Terese (Rick) McKnight of Monroe Center, Ill., Gerald "Joe" (Jamie) Cannady of Jerseyville, Ill., and William (Jackie) Cannady of DeForest, Wisc.; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2014, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, Ill. A recitation of the rosary will be held 4 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014, at St. Augustine of Canterbury Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Msgr. William McGhee officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
