Oliver E. "Ollie" Reeves, 88, of Sauget, Ill., born Jan. 29, 1926, in Murphysboro, Ill., passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Ollie was retired from Sauget Fire Department where he served as a firefighter and chief. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Philippines. He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, Ill., and a member of Leo Jerome Assembly 1666 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Ollie was an avid motorcycle rider.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, nee Meyer, Reeves; his parents, Lonnie and Inez Reeves; and two sisters, Vivian Brown and Juanita Cleveland.
Surviving are his two daughters, Carolyn Long of Sauget, Ill., and Nancy Grana of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren, Thomas Grana, Sarah Long, Angela Grana and Scott Long; and two great-grandchildren, Payton Kersting and Easton Long. He was a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend.
Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Braun Colonial Funeral Home, Cahokia, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral: Funeral procession to leave at 9:40 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, from Braun Colonial Funeral Home for a 10 a.m. Mass at Holy Family Catholic Church, Cahokia, Ill., with Father Paul Wienhoff officiating. Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, Ill.
