Rose Ahring

Rose Mary Ahring, nee Kempf, 81, of Belleville, Ill., born May 18, 1933, in Belleville, Ill., died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at The Colonnade Senior Living, O'Fallon, Ill., with her family by her side.

Mrs. Ahring was a member of the Catholic Knights & Ladies of Illinois and VFW Belleville Post 1739 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and she loved to play cards and bingo. She was a member of a poker club for 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Pikoriatis; her parents, Nicholas and Clara, nee Becker, Kempf; and two brothers-in-law, Louis Kish and Cletus Frerking.

Surviving are her husband of nearly 55 years, George K. Ahring, whom she married on Aug. 29, 1959; a son, James C. Ahring of Belleville, Ill.; a daughter, Jane M. (Mark) Jung of Belleville, Ill.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Jung; two sisters, Florence Kish of Swansea, Ill., and Ruth Frerking of Mascoutah, Ill.; a brother, Leon Kempf of Swansea, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

The Ahring family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Southern Illinois and to the staff at The Colonnade for the loving care they gave to Rose.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill., with Father Dennis Voss officiating. Burial will follow in Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, Ill.
