Russell Gamblin

Russell Eugene Gamblin, 71, of Millstadt, Ill., born June 28, 1941 in East St. Louis, Ill., died at 8:12 a.m. on Monday, June 17, 2013, at his residence.

Mr. Gamblin retired after the closure of the Carrier Plant in Red Bud, Ill. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Laura, nee Stone, Gamblin; his brother; and his daughter, Angela Gamblin-Cissell.

Surviving are his wife, Carol, nee Case, Gamblin of Millstadt, Ill.; his daughter, Kim Freeman of Millstadt, Ill.; his son, Terry (Beth) Gamblin of Freeburg, Ill.; his grandchildren, Christi Johnson, Danny Freeman, Nathan Freeman, Zach Gamblin and Ryan Gamblin; his great-grandchild, Ava Freeman. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

At Mr. Gamblin's request, please do not send flowers. Make memorial donations to Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Ill.

Funeral: A VFW service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2013, followed immediately by the funeral service with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, Ill.

At Mr. Gamblin's request he will be cremated following the services.
