Stephen "Bruce" Markwardt, 71, of Belleville, Ill., born Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1943, in Alton, Ill., died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at his residence in Belleville, Ill.
Bruce worked as a machinist for Ameren UE for 30 years. He was a member of the Shiloh Valley Muzzle Loaders, NRA, NMLRA, and Illinois State Rifle Association. He loved to travel and also worked part-time at AL's Automotive in Cahokia, Ill. Bruce served during the Vietnam War, Division of the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl W. and Barbara, nee Nussbaum, Markwardt; and brother-in-law, Richard Hughs.
Surviving are his wife, Rose M., nee Wilhelm, Markwardt of Belleville, Ill.; children, Jennifer (Chuck Turco) Markwardt of Des Peres, Mo., Jeff (Andrea) Markwardt of Maryland Heights, Mo., and Julie (Jeff) Miller of Ballwin, Mo.; brother, Jay Nicholas Markwardt of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Gretchen Hughs of Reno, Nev.; grandchildren, Lauren Turco, Brooke Turco, Amelia Markwardt, Charlotte Miller and Elise Miller; and many loving brothers and sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
