Thomas Dillon

Thomas V. Dillon, 88, of Fairview Heights, Ill., born March 9, 1925, in Sesser, Ill., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, in Caseyville, Ill.

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Navy, during World War II, receiving the American Theater, European Theater, and Victory medals. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, in 1949. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He enjoyed bowling, Scrabble, puzzles, word searches, and walking at Moody Park. He also was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. Tom was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E. and Mabel L., nee Hubbartt, Dillon; a son, Thomas E. Dillon; his siblings, Elsie, Donald, James, Wilbur, Lou Ella, Emily, Edmond, Carl, Emma Louise, John, Noel, and Marie.

Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Marion Dillon, nee Hastings, of Collinsville, Ill.; his children, Vern (Jennifer) Dillon of San Luis Obispo, Calif., Bradley (Shauna) Dillon of Tacoma, Wash., Barbara (Robert) Brem of Belleville, Ill., Janet (James) Cronin of Belleville, Ill., and Jennifer (John Ray Lane, III) Dillon of Collinsville, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Dillon of Dallas, Ore.; his grandchildren, Forrest (Megan Baniet) Brem, Elizabeth Brem, Alexander Brem, Brandon Dillon-VonBokel, Cameron Von-Bokel, Sean (Hitomi) Dillon, and Joshua Dillon; a great-grandson, Tommy Dillon, and one on the way; his brother, Charles Frederick (Connie) Dillon of Tuscola, Ill.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Jack Kuhlmeyer officiating. Interment will follow in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
