Wayne Addison

Wayne A. Addison, 81, born in Dowell, Ill., on Aug. 15, 1931, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield, Ill.

Wayne worked for the Collinsville Unit School District 10 from 1968 to 1977 and then became the Director of Special Education for Alton Public School District 11 from 1977 to 1992. He enjoyed music, both playing and listening, along with gardening, fishing, boating and the St. Louis Rams. He was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Godfrey, Ill., the New Horizon Band and Melody Lane. He also served overseas in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. and Dorothy, nee Wilson, Addison.

Surviving are his wife, Dolores, nee Miller, Addison of Godfrey, Ill., whom he married on Dec. 27, 1951; three sons, Darrell (Pat) Addison of Belleville, Ill., Rick (Rosalie) Addison of Charleston, Ill.,, and Tim Addison of Godfrey, Ill.; one daughter, Rhonda (John) Wall of Fairview Heights, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Sara, Laura, Dan, Josh, Eli Addison, Seana (Ben) Palmer, Jonathan and Jenna Wall; and three sisters, Margaret (Harry) Reynolds of Olive Branch, Ill., Cherie (Medford) Henson of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Vickie (Dave) Marshall of Mount Zion, Ill.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Godfrey, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home with Reverend Dave Marshall officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Mo.
